If you search for ""Håvard Hedde" on youtube, you'll find the original melody and lyrics of this Norwegian folk song.

This version is mostly translated to English, but contains one verse in Norwegian at the end. The melody is slightly altered to fit a chordprogression we made before deciding what to sing ::) This is a true acapella/beat-box performance. No instruments other than voice was used.

yeah I need some details also because this is absolutely out of this world. It's brilliantly conceived and executed, mixed and mastered. I thinks I'll listen again, this is a gem of a recording, thanks!

HOLT SSSSSHHHH!!!!!!!TTTTTTT I love this.  I love it when you get all out-of-the-box, thats for sure.  Sounds like you brought the Beach Boys out of retirement for this one.  And those lyrics, the english version, man, thats mystical forest vision kind of stuff, drinking reindeer pee kind of stuff.......Fantastic Geir.  You brightened my day here this morning.  Its -15 Celsius (-25 wind chill) and you made me feel warm all over listening to this one.

I heard this earlier on the Latest Songs player while I was tidying up the house - you have to have good music to listen to when you're doing mundane tasks. It completely passed me by that this was without any instrument other than the human voice.

It's bloody amazing.

I have just listened to it again and it's still bloody amazing.

Awesome! Has a bit of a Paul Simon vibe. I love that you did this entirely with vocals.

a couple of bounces had to be done ;) we had a guitar guide track and a bass guide track that didn't end up in the final mix 'cause we wanted an all vocal performance. my brother did the bass-vox (doubled) we both beat-boxed and sang harmony and I did the main vox. The lyrics are a very free reinterpretation of the original (wich exist in many variations) that we ended up with after not getting inspiration for any original lyrics :D Since the chordprogression didn't fit the original melody, but that we had a bass-line not following the root of the chords we could almost use the original melody, but some alterations had to be made.

If you listen carefully you'll hear my brother singing the Norwegian verse in the background as I repeat the chorous over and over at the end.
