Loss of Track

Hello all,
I had laid down 4 separate tracks. After listening to it all I wanted to make some changes to track 3. Instead of using the punch in/out feature I just deleted track 3 (hit utility/undo) then redid track 3. On playback it came out great but I somehow lost track 4! Track 3 was blinking when I undid the track, so I don't think I erased track 4 but apparently I did something. This happened before any bouncing or mastering phases. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
As a side note, I recreated the same scenario, that is laying down 4 separate tracks and redid track 3 and the same thing happened (lost track 4). So clearly there is something I am missing. Should I just have used the punch in/out method?
Thank you!

The most likely is that track 4 was the last thing you recorded.
Hitting undo undoes the last thing you did, not necessarily the current track you are on.

Just replied to this but it did not post  ??? Instead of deleting the track, change it to v2, which keeps the first take intact if you decide it was ok after all.

If you make a complete mess on a track and know youll never use it you can just record over the top of it without using undo!!!

That is clearly the problem then. Thank you for your kind assistance.

When you go to bounce all the tracks on to track one, I assume then I would have to somehow select Virtual 2 from track 3?

Thanks, that would have also been a smarter way to do it.

I appreciate all the help! Thanks again.

This is true but remember it does leave stuff in memory so it's important to clean up occasionally. (That's the Optimize function pg 59)
