I`m glad he did that backer at the end cause i was wondering about equal tone levels in
switching. Sounds really sweet. They picked the right guy to sell the product. That`s an ultimate
job to have. Damn i want a G-5!

Bananas at Large is advertising it for $1,299 US.

A couple of U.K. sites are advertising it at £1,199.00 which is $1,858.15 US at today's exchange rate. I'm not sure why there's such a big discrepancy.

Thanks! That`s a better price than i thought and sounds fair but wouldn`t buy it online. I
would have to test play it myself.

...............me too, I could watch him all day, I dont think I've seen a better guitar player. I cant play guitar after watching him 'cos I feel like such a fraud.

How good is that guitar tho? Love the acoustic tones they're killer and the humbucker settings and the tele and the blah blah blah!! WOW.

Seems good value for money but maybe we get ripped off in the UK?

GAS..................seems so unfair I have no spare dough,....what can I sell??

The Roland G-5 is nice but I'd rather have a VG-99. At $1,299, the VG-99 is the same price as the G-5. It does everything the G-5 does and much more. And I could use my Godin xtSA guitar with it instead of buying a new guitar.

If you don't already have a guitar with a hex pickup, you can buy Roland's GK3 pickup. OR, you can get the new Fishman TriplePlay wireless hex pickup.

For anyone interested in a compact electronic drum kit, there were a few developments at NAMM 2012.

Roland has updated their entry-level HD-1 with the new HD-3 drum kit at $799 US. I like that you can now do cymbal chokes and snare rimshots.

Behringer has announced three new drum kits at $499, $399, and $299!

And, although they're not new for 2012, you can get the Alesis DM6 Session Kit for $399 US.

So, lots of options for anyone who wants to get away from drum machines and play a real drum kit instead. The prices are amazing and they don't take up a lot of room.

I love the concept behind this new amp from Yamaha.

As the presenter says, there are lots of great amps for gigs or jamming with friends (Marshall, HIWATT, Fender, VOX, etc). But there aren't a lot of great amps for at home. So Yamaha set out to make one and it looks like they've done a really good job.

  • excellent amp modelling
  • built-in effects
  • high-fidelity stereo sound for aux input (great for your BR) and computer (USB audio)
  • 5 watts per channel
  • built-in stereo speakers (8cm)
  • chromatic tuner
  • USB audio (plays sound from your computer or sends sound from the THR to your DAW, etc)
  • Cubase AI included
  • editor software available from Yamaha website
  • small and light (2.8 kg for the THR10 and 2.0 kg for the THR5)
  • powered by included AC adapter or 8 AA batteries (take it anywhere)
  • $199.99 US (£169.00) for the THR5 or $299.99 US (£259.00) for the THR10 which has a few more amp models and other features
  • available January 2012
