64Guitars

Thanks everyone.

The "acoustic" guitar is my Godin xtSA with its piezo bridge transducers and the BR-864's P81:Natural preset which I tweaked slightly. I recorded it to one track which I duplicated in Audacity and offset slightly, panning one to the left and one to the right. The dual lead guitars are also the xtSA (bridge humbucker), using the BR-864's P25:RockLead patch (tweaked). Bass guitar is my Gibson EB0.

There aren't a lot of drums in the original. Just the cowbell and timpani plus some toms which are quite low in the mix. No cymbals that I could hear. I couldn't really make out the toms clearly so I just improvised them and kept them low in the mix. The timpani is a voice on my Yamaha PSR-2100 keyboard.

I don't know much about Spirit (and hadn't heard this song before), but I do know a stellar production when I hear it! Great guitar work, 64G - man, you have gotten quite a palette of sounds from your guitar! Jim, that's another top vocal performance - great harmonies! Loved the drum programming, too...I've got to get back to Hydrogen one of these days.

Well done, fellas!

Wonderful, terrific, splendid beauty.   This is a long time fav of mine - I just luv, luv, luv that Twelve Dreams LP.  Your cover did not disappoint one little bit.   ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D

The acoustic guitar is a well played, clear and clean understatement for the perfectly pitched, nicely distorted electric guitars.  Jim's vocal is spot on, as usual.  Altogether a very well played, mixed, and mastered cover.  One could say that you captured the spirit of Spirit!  I too would love to hear another!

Thanks a lot guys for this addition to my iPod.
