In an attempt to move forward, I approached this project differently in terms of scope and genre'.  This was also a first experience field recording real drums, played by the drummer from our little band at church.

Ask me now, 'Which is more trouble: Programming a drum machine or dealing with a real drummer?'  and I'll say: 'Damnifino'    :D

The song was recorded tracking to Sonar but the drum tracks were recorded in the field using 3 mics and a small mixer to an M-BR.  So, of course had to mix the 3 mics (kick, snare and overhead) down to 2 tracks on the spot.  Basically kick, toms and snare were recorded in 1 take then re-set the mics and recorded cymbals in a separate take, going for a stereo image. The rack of chimes were recorded separately with two mics set up back-to-back near the center of the rack to get it in stereo.

Thanks for listening and hope you enjoy.  :)

But I swear, I used to absolutely excel at being young and stupid.

Nice to hear some more hooper excellence. The singing and playing are great. The drums recorded really well. Your recordings always have perfect placement of each instrument in the stereo panorama, making each instrument distinct and clear. Well done, as always.

Stupendous. I love the arrangements, vocals are Hooper Classics. Well done with the drums, notoriously tricky. Loved the chime glissando. Ooh twice!

If I heard this on the radio without knowing who had done it, I would have put money on it being a Hooper production.

Brilliant Ken.

What a great cover , I'm in total agreement with 64 ,  your placement of instruments within the sound spectrum is perfect , add to that the quality of recording with great vocals , and lovely guitars and drums , & you end up with a thing of beauty , spot on Ken
