Thanks for the comments, everyone. And special thanks to oldrottenhead, Flash Harry and cuthbert for their enthusiasm, creativity and skill which was quite evident throughout the project, and in the final result. The Otley crew worked their magic in a pretty short time. Then cuthbert added all those wonderful little details which, to me, make a big difference in any recording.

The song proved to be a lot more challenging for me than I had thought it would be. It alternates between 4/4 and 6/4 time, which made the song structure and drum arrangement difficult to work out. But I persevered and eventually got it. The leads were also tricky because they're played over the 6/4 sections and I found it hard to get the timing right.


For those of you who've never heard the original by The Kinks, here's the video. I think it's a great Christmas song and I'm surprised it's not more well-known. I didn't know it myself until I found this on YouTube a few weeks ago.

The musicianship is stunning, the production is absolutely spotless, and the camaraderie... priceless. You guys did a fantastic Job.
