Hi Kody,
I just gave this a listen... I love the guitar sound you created!
It's cool. I also love to play with Audacity.
Since I haven't had the funds to purchase a BR yet, well, at least I have
Audacity to play around with...
In fact, just last night I made my 1st attempt at a recording of me playing
1st & 2nd guitars & keyboard.
Today I tried a 2nd attempt at Dire Straits classic 'Money 4 Nothing'.
I like the possibilities it offers to me. But of course it is lacking by miles,
in comparison to the BR!
I love covers just like the next guy, but for me, what always gets me, is the originals. Holdempok has like 30 - 40 originals. I have 1!
Hey what the heck, huh? 1 is better than 0!
Well, anyhow, Killer track Dude!
I want to hear more....

Well thank YOU Kody, for giving us so much wonderful music here!! I think I have all your song on my iPod now and yesterday I listen to them for hours when I was working on my cabin. I really enjoyed all of them!!!

Quote from: Kody on April 11, 2009, 06:17:39 PMTrust me, I want to be posting my own songs....I just don't have anything completed yet.  Whenever I sit down to work on something, I get sidetracked with something.
I know the feeling! And being a father, sometimes it's hard to set aside time to oneself. Well, you'll get the time eventually, and the good thing is that you have what you need to get your ideas recorded whenever you want.
QuotePlus I've been working on expanding my material for playing live shows~So working on my own stuff right now has been put on the back burner....I know at some point, songs will start falling out of the sky, you know what I'm saying?  And plus, recording covers gives me good practice when it comes time to start recording my own stuff....
I hear ya !!! I've had years when I didn't write a song at all, now after getting the MBR they seem to pop up from nowhere 8) I know some of them are just ... well fun to do, but with some of them I surprise myself .... and the feedback from people like you helps a lot too.
QuoteI really appreciate the support, Geir!  Hey, how is your name pronounced btw.  Is it Geer or Gare or does it even have a G sound?? Just wondering lol!
he he ... well ... the G is pronounced as in goat, E as the a in rat, I as in rain, and the r ... well you'll never get that right  ::)  8) no seriously the r is like the r in "RRRRRRRRRRRubber biscuits" from blues brothers.  LOL

Keep up the good work, I'll be listening to everything you come up with!!

Thanks Satchwood.  The lead tones where directly from the BR900cd, this song was done before I got my Line6 Podxt...It was a Smoothlead patch that I tweaked a little bit~ It's 2 harmonizing guitar parts (same patch).  I also remember using my Boss V wah, but I just left it half-way open...I didn't step on it... This was my first ever recording.  I made it while watching Monday Night Football(YEAHHHHH!!!!)...I was going for the Alice in Chains~Jar of Flies sound, and this is what resulted.  I can't take this particular piece any further, but I'd like to write more complete songs in this style..

WHOA!  How the hell did you get that crazy backwards effect in the intro?  I have been trying to do that for years on the digital, but can't seem to figure it out!  Very Beatle-esque!  The song is fantastic! :D

A true inspiration, good job!
If you loose track over a chord progression, play as fast as you possibly can. Nobody will know. Thats how they invented bebop.

What a nice piece of music, Kody. I could see this being the intro to a more extensive progressive rock song. Great recording. Nice effects on the guitars. The phasing fits the spacey nature of the music.

I agree with the others - Audacity is a nice tool. I haven't exercised much of it's capabilities yet (like the reverse function), mainly just for trimming, and a little gain adjust here and there.

Nice work!
There are only three kinds of drummers. Those who can count, and those who can't.

Thought I'd come over here to check out some more of Kody's work as we don't see hime enough in the MBR corner (although just really admired his solo on the blue jam collab). This is very cool, great mood piece and I love the reverse intro. The sound of all the instruments is great, I love the simple but effective bass and harmony guitars. Lovely.

Cheers,

Nigel
