OK, after many, many months I finally recorded something. It's more an experiment with a couple of things rather than anything too serious. I struggle with drum programming, so I thought I would try some recorded drum loops. I bought a pack of royalty-free real drum loops and stitched together a drum track in Samplitude. The other experiment was to try some creating some guitar sounds with my new Zoom multi-effects pedal, so I just built up this instrumental piece without much forethought to see how some different guitar sounds worked. I've been listening to a lot of post-rock and modern prog, so I guess it was bit influenced by all of that stuff. It turned into a bit of an aural onslaught, so that's why it's called "Onslaught". And it's Onslaught I because there might be more in a similar vein.

My conclusion on the drums was that using pre-recorded loops was almost as much as a pain as programming them myself, so I am getting a form of electronic drums for Xmas so I can try playing the drums myself. Who knows how that will turn out........

Cheers,

Nigel

Very nice Nigel , Love the guitars , that Zoom pedal is proving to be a good buy , you have put together some very interesting sounds , and the drums sound fab , think your just a perfectionist , id settle for your worst drum programming ( if there is such a thing , God forbid )
It certainly was worth waiting for , & i shall give it some more listens before i finally go to bed

Hey Nigel... this is way bad ass my friend. Just outta curiosity did you use loops that were beatmapped and a DAW that would handle them? This type of thing I found super easy to do in Acid Studio. I've never really sat down to do any drum programming though so I really can't compare. I usually finger drum or play my kit. Either way sounds like you got it down like a clown brotha. Whatta track!!!!

Back again for a listen and a download, this rocks so very much my friend!!!!! Your drums here sound better than anything I've been able to record/create. Your mix is spot on. Your tones are so badass! this "experiment" is a full on "Onslaught" of brilliance! Well done brother!
Rock on!
