Inspired by Tony (Wichita), I decided to do some visuals for one of my recent songs. This is from my last album 'Dark Harvest', and features the one and only Flash Harry on bass. Everything else is me. And all done on the BR (of course!).

Just a weird little slide show, but it was fun raiding my collection of freaky pictures  :D

THE DEVIL'S SIDEBURNS

dark satanic mills block out the sun
and there behind the tent flap there's a freak show going on
midgets hung on hat pegs by the stairs
can see how much i love you by the sideburns that i wear
can see how much i love you as they tie you to the chair

time can only take you deeper
tangled up in green
and doctor love is here to kill or cure you
he's got the pills you need

there's bullet holes in the stars
for the sideshow freaks and their starving hearts
when the lost and found align
by the devil's sideburns you'll be mine

life gets in the way of who we are
in Barbara Bestial's bistro, she grows mushrooms in the dark
the leaves are slowly turning red and gold
and the grey hairs on my sideburns tell me i am growing old
no longer black like empty fields of crows

time can only take you deeper
tangled up in green
and doctor love is here to kill or cure you
he's got the pills you need

there's bullet holes in the stars
for the sideshow freaks and their starving hearts
when the lost and found align
by the devil's sideburns you'll be mine

EDIT: CRAPPY OLD FILM REMOVED AND NEW ONE ADDED....

I love it! Your words are very imaginative and evocative - very Nick Cave (that's meant as a compliment btw). I love the images in the slide show. My only niggles (and apologies because the slide show is great) are that the colour pulsing effect is a bit distracting as it's not quite in time with the music and the slide show changes a bit too often. If you structured the slide changes and images more closely to the words you have an audio visual treat here (eg use the pic of the werewolf holding the girl when you sing "by the devil's sideburns you'll be  mine"), But I'm being picky - it's great.

Cheers,

Nigel

I saw the article - it looks great! Thanks again for the invitation and the space.

I think I need a lot of practice with windows movie maker - I started off with actual film footage from a couple of very strange movies I like, but it spacked my pc out (technical term...!) and took up all my partition space (or something). In short, it didn't work. So the one above is the best I could do  :)

Don't worry, I'll let you off  ;) I presumed you had put the images in something like Powerpoint and animated them, which would make them easier to fiddle with. It's still very cool, and as Tony said, reminiscent of those amazing OGWT films (not that I'm old enough to remember...).

Cheers,

Here we go... a full music video, and as freaky as the song. Was quite straightforward in the end, except or getting the fantastic ending to synch with the end of the song.

I'm chuffed to bits with this!  :)
