That'll be transverse then. Fipple is when you play it like a tin whistle. Sounds like I know what I am talking about, but I just Googled bansuri to find out which "India" it comes from (native America or subcontinent).

Lovely stuff though, and what a pleasure to hear a skill that your dad passed on to you.
