Howdy do,

This is the first thing I recorded on my micro BR. Umm, Bongo Bass, cheap acoustic guitar that I just gave away to an errant child, electro acoustic mandolin and toy shop harmonica (no I can't play it).

Thought I'd include it warts and all, it was all a bit of a one take job.

My next thing is obviously to learn to make a rhythm track properly,

Oh, I called it "Cardiff Rain Leaves me Blue".

My main instrument is the bass.

Thanks to admin for christmas reminder as I may well have not bothered posting here despite having registered.

Peace,

Dmann

I like it. Sound very nice.
Did you recorded acoustic guitar and harmonica with onboard mic?

On my headphones I've heard some clipping - I'm not sure it this is the problem but try to lower the input level o sesitvity to avoid "over" blinking while playing. Or maybe this comes from another source as I can hear some distortion on the drums also?

Cheers,

Yeah - guitar and harmonica via inboard mic. Going to pick up a mic proper this week I think.

May well be that I just had the sensitivity too high. A problem I have is that I sometimes go from playing quite softly to hard (as do most people I imagine).

Is it better to generally go for a lower input in that case? in which case, is there then a tendency for the recording to sound 'weak'?

There's the basis of a good song here. I love the moody, springy bass tones - beautifully played and well crafted. I'd love to hear what Wichita would do with his Les Paul Gold Top over the top of this!

I think you should get some stuff on the collaboration thread pronto  :)

I think that if you lower sensivity you will be able to record with good volume level. It is better to record with high volume as you can allways lower it while mixing without quality loss. Increasing volume will allways increase the noise also.
For my squier with single coils I need to lower sensivity to -8dB to play at 100% input volume even if I play hard.
I do not know if there is any tone change if I decrease sensivity but I didn't noticed.

I could do that certainly - what kinda thing? - just a bass track or something more elaborate?

Anything and everything can go on there. For this one you might just want some vocals and lead guitar. But there's lots of talent on here, and it's really given my songs a boost to let some of these talented buggers loose on them...  :)
