Reason To Believe

I wrote this back in August after a death in the family and some discussions on illness. Anyone who knows me knows that I write a ton of songs every year but this one still sticks out. I should do a better recording, but this demo is all I have, and I kinda like it.

I never fought
The way I fight you now
Cuz I always thought
I could beat it somehow
But it isn't easy
To live a life of pain
No, it isn't easy
to do it all over again

Give me the sun
Give me the sky
Give me the wind blowing through my hair
Give me a reason to believe
Don't bring the darkness
I'm afraid of the nighttime
(Give me a)I need a reason to believe

Don't bring her in
Please don't bring her here
She's too young
To see her Daddy's tears
My time has come
I can feel it seeping in
Just hold my hand
'Cause I need a friend

Give me the sun
Give me the sky
Give me the wind blowing through my hair
Give me a reason to believe
Don't give me the darkness
I'm afraid of the night time
I need (give me) a reason believe

No, don't put that needle in my vein
Please don't put that needle in my vein
Just let me drift away
Set me out in the sunlight
Just don't bring back all the pain

Give me the sun
Give me the sky
Give me a reason to believe
Give me a reason to believe

liked this alot TC, a really great song, and the delivery in your vocals is just heart wrenching. I think you could get a better take on the vox and bring them up, but not sure I would do anything else. Fantastic writing, and the simple arrangement works beautifully

Really nice sounding live recording, both your songs today have been really good , but this my fav, sometimes your better leaving thing as they are cause they are just moment in time, loved it!!!

Great song, and a sad topic. Brings back some memories ...

The recording is lo-fi, and that's exactly what the song needs IMO. It sounds like the old root folk songs do. I would not change anything at all. This is a raw diamond. Leave it that way!

Oh man.... got the hairs standing up on the back of my neck....

It's been said before, one voice, one guitar, you're doubly naked, but this is even more so, emotionally naked too I reckon.

This is one of your best. This is how it should be heard.
We are here on Earth to fart around. Don't let anybody tell you any different
