Used Toontrack EZ drummer Jazz expansion pack for the drum work.  The flute in the first verse is a free plugin from ChineseWinds and is supposed to emulate the Chinese Dizi flute.  I've used it before on a few of my other pieces.
Guitar and bass expertly executed by my dear friend, Marc Halikas.  Mostly instrumental, but there are a few words close to the end-

Now warm thoughts will fill your mind
Now a cool breeze will be magnified

Gone are issues robbing peace of mind
Now's the time to come to joy

Everything you'll ever want to know
More than you will ever need to grow
Lost in silence

Nice to hear that Dizi sound again. I experimented with it too a couple of years ago when I had nobody to collaborate with yet and dabbled on some instrumental pieces instead.

I like the new age touch of this song even though the drums play a jazzy rhythm. Kind of a fusion song.

Jazz... such an intimidating art form but so sweet when executed properly.

Excellent piece John.

The drums sound awesome.

Thanks all!

Stoman-I was trying to think of what sub-genre this fits, and I believe you hit it: Fusion!  Thanks!  :)

Nelson-I've never found jazz itself intimidating, but some of the player that I've known or heard of can be a bit intimidating.  Miles Davis is the first one that comes to my mind.

The EZ Drummer program is so awesome!  You can use preset/pre-programmed patterns and fills that were created by real players and lay them right into your tracks.  In this tune, I used patterns created by a guy named David "Fingers" Haynes.  Check out this vid and you'll see why they call him "Fingers"

John this is a stunning piece of music to my old rocker ears, just wonderful! I am not a jazz lover, seems to me too often melody gets lost in the 'cleverness', but I really enjoyed this ... maybe I could be converted?

fantastic!
