Thanks Willie,
Never heard of the band you mentioned, but I have more songs !
So for the next one.....
If you 's like them to be panned how would you like it ?I dont like headphones so it dosent worry me.
Rythum L25,Lead fills R25. What about bass guitar and Guitar solo ?Do you like them panned?
I just burn my songs to a CD and give them out, but I would like to improve my recordings as its good fun. :)
C'mon ,their your ears, let me know.
Thanks. :)

Ok I'm probably not the best person to answer this and I see that 64 Guitars has explained the principles of panning and what he doesn't know about this stuff ain't worth knowing, but the way I work is.
I tend to leave the drums, bass and rythmn guitars centred and because I tend to use two or three lead instruments I pan them left or right depending on how they sound and this is personal taste. You will have to experiment but I would say again that it sometimes easier to hear what is wrong rather than what is right. Enjoy tinkering, if it works, great. If not, do it again. It's not like you're paying for studio time ;D......Willie

Hey Bobtail, great tune, real nice playing. 64's panning guide is awesome and his knowledge is immense & accurate, but here's what I do. I like everything to come from a slightly different place, if I have multiple rhythm tracks (piano & guitar) I'll split them left and right, I seldom go all the way but I usually push 30-40. I then move everything around inside those outer parameters. I leave nothing centered (except drum track) and I don't pile anything on top of each other, except sometimes background vocals. Even a difference of 5 can clear up some muddiness when everything centered. Also bring your drums up in the mix and put some reverb on them, I started adding reverb to the drums about a year ago and it's really changed the quality of my recordings. I try to think of the recording as a performance and set the tracks up in a half circle in front of me. Play around, you're going to make some outstanding recordings!
Rock on!

Bobtail... one other thing... I pan my drums this way. Snare (Centere'd)... Kick (Centered) Lt Tom (Lt 50) Center Tom (Centere'd) Rt Tom (Rt 50).... As mention'd before play around with it until you achieve the desired sound. I'm not much for following rules... so I usually don't do things the "Right Way".... sometimes it works... other times... I think I should have laid off the sauce.

Thanks everyone for the great advice,I'll try to record another song on the weekend. :)

Yes, I love this kind of groove.  You have quite the style.  Loose and groovy, thats good.  Great advice regarding panning and mixing in this thread.  You will get better with each one at that kind of stuff.  You have the music part all sorted out, thats for sure.  Lets have some more of that spice man.

Funky as it can be! Very nice stuff!

I like it!

Another option to enhance instrument and vocal tracks is to use a plugin called a Harmonizer.

It acts upon the stereo tracks and allows shifting each track independently, up or down in increments of
one one-hundredth of a semitone, or one cent.
This is great for doubling a hot solo and maintaining perfect note-matching, as well as widening the stereo field.

As also mentioned, you could double a track, then play with time-shifting it away from the original track.
Try a short delay to start with. Say, 40 milliseconds. Vary it from there, by adding or removing silence from the beginning of the song, till the overall playback pleases your ear.

My first use of this effect on a vocal track is my version of Low Rider.
