Many years ago I found myself whistling this tune after seeing a Maigret telefilm on a summer film arena  (I know you've Rupert Davies in UK, while in Italy the actor was Gino Cervi) so it is somehow french flavour to me. Just relax and whistle if you can ;-) it's monday again...
