Solo lap steel rather than dobro, needed the extra sustain.  Sparse, yet spacious.....

Played this on a Melobar SKL running thru a Roland Mini-Cube.  Recorded on a Zoom H2.  No muss, no fuss.

Hope you like my take on  this classic song.    Geo

Thanks for listening!

Absolutely loved this.  The sound of the lap steel just speaks to me, and you work with space very well.

Very nice take.

Thank you, Blooby!  Glad the lap steel spoke to you.

I've posted some other originals and covers, some featuring dobro or acoustic guitar.  I'll post some more lap steel tunes.  I've gotta watch the size requirements...  My dobro version of Pancho and Lefty is too big :(   I look forward to check out some of your songs.  Thanks again!  Geo

Beautiful! That lap steel sounds great! I'm sure there are several members here who would love to have you add some lap steel to some of their future songs. As far as I know, you're the first lap steel player to join Songcrafters. Possibly the first Dobro player too, or at least one of only a few. I have a feeling your skills will be in demand here.

Our size limit of 6MB only applies to files you attach to messages. There's no restriction on files hosted elsewhere. So, by using our players for Soundclick, alonetone, ReverbNation, etc., you can link to songs on those sites of any size that they allow. Several of our members host their songs at alonetone because there's no size limit there and you can easily link to your alonetone files with our [singlemp3][/singlemp3] tags, which will result in the same player you'd get with an attached file. For example, see the posts of thetworegs. He (they?) uses alonetone. https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?action=profile;u=3536;sa=showSongs

This is very good. I wish I could get my lap steel to sing like that. Very sweet.
