Geir

I have a soft spot for this part of this wonderful furum :

https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?board=101.0

The  songcrafter Tribute page.

I've been lucky to have a few of my song covered and have covered a few myself ::) .. and I must say ... it's mothing like the feeling you get when you open the Songcrafters.org page in the morning and see that someone, somewhere on this globe has covered one of your songs.

So ! .. If you find a song you like here, why don't have a go at it ? !!! ... I know it's rewarding, both to cover a fellow songcrafter, and to be covered !!!!

P.S. I hope to find my backup and post a remix of one of my covers soon

Do you know, I have never looked at the Tributes forum!

There are a couple I'd like to have a go at - OHR etal's Devils Tower, or Something Silent by you fella's in Met, completely different ends of the scale but love them both and oustanding writing in each their own way

Not convinced I could do either the justice they deserve mind!  :-X

songs i've either done myself or been involved in the making of, have been  covered by hooper, greeny, mulligan, antisocialworker, ferryman, andrewh and the man who started this thread, geir.

being covered yeahkannywhackit

i have covered a couple of songcrafters too. but there is nothing that beats hearing one of your own songs being done with the love and care of someone who must have connected with it in some way to have covered it in the first place.

i'm rambling now, but click on the link of geirs and read the replies of those covered and hope that one day the same will happen to you.

Only problem is I can't transcribe chords by ear...or at least have never tried diligently to.  Maybe if I ever have enough time I'll have to break down and learn how to do it.  Meanwhile, anyone got the chords figured out for any of Greeny's songs and want to post them?  (not that I'm talented enough to play/sing them tho...)

I posted the chords & lyrics for the three novice songs I wrote -- lest I forget them myself and need to go online to look them up!

Try it!  It's not that hard and it's a very useful skill to have.

Start by trying to work out the root note of each chord on the low E string. The chord is usually based on the root note. So if the note on the low E string that seems to match the chord best is an A, for example, then try playing an A major, A minor, or A 7th chord and see which one sounds right. You'll soon get the hang of it. And the more you practice transcribing from recordings, the better you'll become at it.

Quite a few members have posted chords with their songs, and I'm sure most would be happy to provide them if you ask. You should probably send the member a PM anyway to make sure they don't mind you covering their song. Some have indicated "Okay to cover" in their signature but others should be asked. For example, I believe Greeny once said that he's happy to have most of his songs covered, but there are a few that are very personal to him and he'd rather not have them covered. So send him a PM to get his blessing and the chords.
