SMiLE Officially Released!

It came out yesterday, but I'm excited as I just got mine - the original SMiLE by The Beach Boys in a two CD set!



It's available in a variety of formats (including vinyl), but I settled for the very reasonably priced CD set. I have a beat-up bootleg on CD-R that won't play anymore, so I'll be digging this for a while. There are lots more extra tracks on this release, and it came with a SMiLE pin and poster. Woohoo!!

If you've never heard any of the songs before, I highly recommend this - the most ambitious (and the great lost) album by The Beach Boys. Macca has said Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Band was The Beatles' direct response to the few tracks he had heard from SMiLE before it got canned.

If you've heard SMiLE before on bootleg, or the few songs on the Good Vibrations box set, or when Brian Wilson re-did it with a new band, need I say more?

I have the Brian Wilson version of Smile which is great! I'll have to check out this new Beach Boys release of it.
