Been so long since I posted a song, I almost forgot how to do it.  ;D
Thanks to Ken for inspiring me to pick up the geetar and bang one out.

Plugged in the ole BR600 (for the first time in a long time), and voila! my damn mics are working. Thought I'd try to get a "Live in the Living Room" contribution in while the last of the night's trick-or-treaters were banging on my door. Hope this qualifies.

Recorded with:
- Applause acoustic
- BR600 internal mics (Mic P02)

I wrote this one a while ago.
Might be a little hard to make out the lyrics so here they are:

Well I've stared too long at the hinge on a hangman's gate
Just waiting for the good Lord to finish this game
Although I might have done wrong, I can't take all the blame
With nothing but a song to carry her name

Well I wasn't looking, but it sure found me
Trouble never seems to leave me alone
And I wasn't asking, but it laid in my bed
Now these stone walls that surround me are the nemisis of my happy home

And I've stared too long at the hinge on a hangman's gate
Just waiting for the good Lord to finish this game
And though I might have done wrong, I can't take all the blame
With nothing but a song to carry her name

Well I didn't know it, but she sure wasn't free
Trouble stood  six feet and carried a gun
And she didn't show it, but she still wore his ring
Now these bars across my window cast a shadow against the warmth of the sun

- Chorus -

Fifteen years of desperation
For a few minutes of fun
Try to analyze my situation
I knew my gun was loaded, but I sure didn't mean to shoot anyone

- Chorus -

Ooooh
Nothing but a song to carry her name
It ain't pretty being easy.

Excellent songwriting and performance. Really like the verse with "And I've stared too long at the hinge on a hangman's gate".  But I hope nothing in real life directly inspired this!

Great to hear something new from you, Vann. It's been far too long. Isn't that basement studio finished yet?

Excellent song and great performance! The guitar reminded me a bit of Humble Pie's "You're So Good for Me".

Great stuff Vann, love the music, lyrics and performance. It would really be worth redoing at some stage - it's amazing to hear you doing this all live but the vox are a little lost and it's such a good song I'd love to hear it with the vox more upfront.

Great stuff regardless, really like the vocal performance.

Cheers,

Nigel

So great to hear some new material from you! Man, that really is some voice you have. And this unplugged style sits so nicely with your guitar and vocal talents. Warm, organic and lovely. And killer songwriting too.

A real treat!
