i think i never mentioned this --- i play my drums barefoot only! no big deal but i suppose not many do. also when i get around to it, as per what 64guitars has mentioned, i might post some 80's stuff i did in a band while i was a guitarist using a 1975 ibanez woodgrain flying V. (wish i still had it) we had no singer for yrs but we kept learning songs and playing.

I never met a pro drummer who didn't play barefoot or with just socks...I guess you're in good company...

really? I never saw a barefoot drummer that I know of so I thought I was an oddity.

I have found that not having my feet weighed down by anything covering it is more comfortable and free-er to move and of course  not be weighed down as much. just like my hands though I have though of getting slightly opened gloves to prevent calusses on my fingers and from making more or breaking in older ones again.
I tape my hi hat and bass pedal with electric tape and my feet can grip on that better then the steel ot metal of the hi hat and bass pedal. I also use a remote hi hat cause I have so many drums I couldn't spread wide enough to put my left foot on the hi hat pedal, that was a life saver!

april 1976

I was in a band called Harelquin. we all were still in high school.
Chris Vasivil on guitar and vox, Mohsen Davanipour on drums ( he was a iranian exchange student) and myself on bass.

notice the ampeg svt and the sunn 300 wat cabinet. I really could put out some loud bone shaking bass back then. good old times, I was 17 yrs old.

pretty fired up! I just got some mic stands, a mic, mic clamps for toms and have been better able to mic my drums now using 9 mics on 8 different channels on my mixer. sounding damn good, you should be hearing a big difference on drums after my next 3 songs. I have one in the can now ready for a release. and working on 2 more with my old drum mic set up, so my 96th song will have the new drum sound and mix. gonna make a big difference. my next 3 songs have improvements on the drum recodings, but once the 96th starts, its gonna sound great, which means I have to play more cause mistakes will be more obvious! :o
