I was trying to find out what the proper procedure was to send a demo that would be heard after reading Tims thread about Taxi.com. i thought well can't you do this by yourself and since starting to look it seems you need a whole team before you start .....but i'm sure it must be simpler than that.....is it?

wow, I'm very happy: I undestood quite each english word, and this man makes it clear - hundreds of demo to listen each week (maybe each day)... the only way to survive is to have some kind of pre-selection ! I will immediately contact a lawyer ;-)

Reg, I wouldn't bother. It's unlikely it would be heard. I was in a band that came reasonably close to getting signed in the 1980s and I went to an A&R man's office at Sony. He had hundreds of demo cassettes all over his desk and office, and to make some space he literally swept a load of them off his desk onto the floor. I'nm sure the situation is worse now because so many people record stuff at home.

Getting a lawyer? How much money do you have? That will be very, very expensive. Unless you know people in the industry (I know some, and believe me, who you know is FAR more important than how good you are), you will just have to create a "buzz" for yourself. Get yourself played on local radio, BBC 6, promote yourself on websites like Soundclick etc etc. Create your own website and promote it on communities on the web that may be interested. That way you will attract them to you, or you might get interest from an "insider".

Cheers,

Nigel
