This is not dasilvasings!

My friend Jorge organizes every year, what I like to call a superband, to record a song chosen and sung by him (condition sine qua non; rules of the game).

This year's line up was:

Van Jorgison: vocals & drums
Van Abreuson: mastering, guitars
Van Shakison: piano
Van Miguelson: bass

Hope you enjoy it,

Miguel

Slick playing and singing, and smooth slinky bass, Miguelson! I like your new avatar, too - Very cool!

Oh, yeah - dirty guitar solo, loved that!

Please tell me you recorded the vox separately... I can't imagine playing the drums and singing this arrangement simultaneously. WOW... this is really good stuff bro. Love it. Tell all the VAN's WAY TO GO!!!

errrr.....

Sorry if I misguided you. This was recorded in different tracks!

We used a recorded original as master, and then added our tracks. First the bass, then drums (actually in several tracks, since there were a couple of drum mics), then several takes of Jorge's voices. Jorge is a terrific singer and I've seen him sing and play at the same time quite a few times. However Tiago (aka Abreuson) suggested he should sing in VM's octave, hence this not-so-perfect vocal track (there was some pitch correction and some mild distortion added later). Piano was added much later (months!) since Joaquim (aka Shakason) was too busy to play with such withered musicians such as ourselves  ;D ;D.

Tiago finally added an acoustic guitar (we had a couple of discussions since no one can hear it) and an electric guitar that reinforces the bass lick in the chorus, and (i think) replaces a chorus sung by Jorge in a much too painful manner to let it stay in the song.

I think we always have a lot of fun with this recordings. So far, Jorge has always selected great songs, Tiago is an amazing producer and Joaquim is pure music made flesh. I learn a lot from these guys!

Thanks for the comments,

Miguel (this time, not as dasilvasings)
