...Re the protest, I have some sympathy with it, but the problem is it needs clearer goals than just "capitalism is bad". But that's a whole other discussion and I don't want to derail your thread with that!...

Hi Nigel - I'd love to discuss the subject, here or otherwise.  Most of the 99% protests don't think capitalism is bad so much as that it's become totally corrupt!  Actually, even the definition of capitalism is vague and probably is being used as the opposite of socialism. Not sure where you live but some of the euro protests seem to be very heated over this issue(?)  

Here in the USA, it's more about the crash of 08 and the fraudulent greed of Wall Street banks making billions in profits from the crash that wiped out the middle class.  Corporations are making record profits from out-sourced American jobs yet paying no taxes and getting "corporate welfare" from the government (read us tax-payers).

A picture is worth a thousand words and this graph from the Congressional Budget office says it all.  Top line is wealth of the top 1% and the rest is the 99%!
