La Canzone del Sole (The Song of the Sun)...Well...this is a song probably unknown to everybody here NOT Italian, but I can assure you that this is one of the most popular songs in Italy since 1971, when it was composed by Lucio Battisti. It's about the magic of first love sensations. Here is the YouTube of the original song:

I can add that every Italian boy or girl who begins to play guitar, as soon as he/she will be able to play the first chords on the keyboard, FOR SURE will try to play this song. This because of the almost ipnotic (and apparently easy...) mantra of only three chords repeating from the beginning till the end of the song: A E D E

Anyway, there is really no one here who doesn't know this song... :)

For the fans of GianniC's voice, here our version. For a singer it's a rather difficult song, since it's full of stop-and-go, but apart from that, it requires a strong expression and sensitivity.

GianniC: voice
Myself: acoustic guitar and synth solo (Kaossilator Pro)

We recorded it a couple of years ago, now I've remixed it cleaning up some parts I didn't like anymore.

Enjoy!

Mighty fine! This is a very catchy and beautiful song, covered superbly. That synth solo is incredible.

WOW! Italian folk meets Weather Report!

Flawless guitar playing (as always), amazing singing, and Zawinul himself soloing in the middle! Great listen!

BTW, what does "che sa che..." means?

Thank Gianni & Alfredo for this wonderful cover! Here's another one that learned and loved this song ;-)

e l'innocenza sulle gote tue
due arance ancor più rosse
e la cantina buia dove noi
respiravamo piano
e le tue corse, l'eco dei tuoi no, oh no
O mare nero, o mare nero, o mare ne...
tu eri chiaro e trasparente come me
o mare nero, o mare nero, o mare ne...
tu eri chiaro e trasparente come me.
noi due distesi all'ombra
un fiore in bocca può servire, sai
più allegro tutto sembra
e d'improvviso quel silenzio fra noi
e quel tuo sguardo strano
cos'è rimasto in fondo agli occhi tuoi
la fiamma è spenta o è accesa?
O mare nero, o mare nero, o mare ne...
tu eri chiaro e trasparente come me
o mare nero, o mare nero, o mare ne...
tu eri chiaro e trasparente come me.
e cespugli ancora in fiore
sono gli occhi di una donna
ancora piena d'amore.
Your blond braids and blue eyes and then
 your red little socks
and the innocence on your cheeks
 two orange more red
and the dark cellar where we
did breathe slowly
and your races, the echo of your 'no', oh no
 I fear you now.
Where have you been what ever have you done?
You're a woman, a woman, and tell me
What does it mean 'I am a woman now'.
How many arms did hold you, do  you know?
 to become what you are
it does not matter – you won't tell me, anyway.
But do you remember the green water and we
The  rocks, the white bottom
Now  what color are your eyes?
I do not answer if you ask me.
One sea of black, one sea of black, one sea of
You were clear and transparent like me
One sea of black, one sea of black, one sea of
You were clear and transparent like me
The abandoned bicycles on the lawn and then
The two of us lying in the shade
a flower in the mouth may be of use, you know
 everything seems more cheerful
and suddenly the silence between us
 and that strange gaze
you drop the flower from your mouth and then
oh no, stop, please, your hand.
Where have you been what ever have you done?
You're a woman, a woman, and tell me
What does it mean 'I am a woman now'.
I do not know that confident smile that you have
I do not know who you are anymore
 you scare me, anyway.
But do you remember the big waves and we
 Your laughter and splashing
What remained at the bottom of your eyes
the flame is off or on?
One sea of black, one sea of black, one sea of
You were clear and transparent like me
One sea of black, one sea of black, one sea of
You were clear and transparent like me
The sun when it rises, rises up slowly and then
the light is spread all around us
shadows and ghosts of the night are trees
 and shrubs still in flower
are the eyes of a woman
 still full of love.

Thanks everybody, you all are very kind!  :)

Sa chi sa etc...of course it's a tongue-twister, and its meaning in English is more or less: a man is a wise man only if he is aware he doesn't know anything and doesn't pretend to know everything.  :)

The complete tongue-twister is:

Sa chi sa, se sa che sa, che se sa, sa che non sa. Sol chi sa che nulla sa ne sa più di chi ne sa.
