First a little back ground on Rayon Vert. We are an internet group of 4 that have never met in person. We've been making music together for 5 years and communicate via email. From pictures I know what Gary Carciello (Finland - guitar) , Rob Grant (USA - bass) looks like but I have no idea what DrC (USA - keys and synth) looks like nor do I know much about him except that he plays the heck out of a B3, a moog, and is great at music production. I (Farrell Jackson- USA) create the melodies, lyric and does vocals for the group. I also add acoustic and electric guitar plus harmonica when called for. I'm putting up this song, Conversational Prostitute, because this was the very first song I did with Rayon Vert. It was my audition song and set us on our 5 year union and still going.

Those of you that have heard my songwriting know that in style, it's all over the place but leans heavily on the acoustic guitar with attention placed on vocal melodies and harmony. Rob Grant had ran across some of my more rock oriented songs at Soundclick so he sent me the music to a completed song and asked if I would like to give it a go with lyric and melody. I was the 3rd singer that they sent this song to. The proggy music and skill of these guys just blew me away. I didn't know what the other singers had come up with and I wasn't sure if I could even compete in this prog. genre. But I gave it a go...they liked what they heard, the song became Conversational Prostitute, and my relationship with Rayon Vert was solidified.  This was probably more than you wanted to read but I'm on my third cup of coffee and my fingers wouldn't stop typing, lol! On to the song...I hope you like it and my quirky lyric.

Conversational Prostitute

Chorus
You belong in an institute
Way too old to be dressing that cute
You possess the art of refute
You're a conversational prostitute

V1
I was at a local club the other night
You sought me out, I could not hide
You started telling me all that was wrong
Another drink as the subject grew long

Chorus
You belong in an institute
Way too old to be dressing that cute
You might possess the art of refute
You're just a conversational prostitute

V2
There must have been a bubble over my head
I didn't hear a single word you said
You're mouth was moving like a mini buzz saw
But all I ever heard was.... Bla Bla Bla

Bridge
I really thought your license had expired
The rock's been lifted where you retired
You think you're hearing a knock of opportunity
You're reading it wrong, lost in your scrutiny

No one knows the truth when you say this or that
You take a inch of rumor, make it a mile of fact
You should be banished, we should pass a law
To stop you from repeating... Bla Bla Bla

Whoa, excellent melody and vox. I can see why they liked it. And I can say that I was thinking what I would have done with this had it been given to me. Firstly I wouldn't have been able to perform it nearly so well. And secondly, the phrasing is good and the melody works very well. It's not a huge range but still moves enough to make it engaging.

Yeah, I definitely think this fit you like a glove.

Btw, I liked that guitar break quite a bit.

Thanks T.C. Elliott, Daniel, and Neil!

T.C. when the song was sent to me it was just the music.....no melody at all. The only  instruction guide  I got was to place the vocals from 00:00 to 00:00 and from 00:00 to 00:00 etc. It was bit over whelming at first since I usually develop my melodies as I'm putting my chord structures together. This was bit more challenging for me to add a melody to an already structured song.

Thanks!
