When I was younger
I had a hunger
I'd eat and then run
No lessons learned
Just bridges burned
The damage was done

When I got older
I still didn't shoulder
Love's heavy load
I picked up many
And discarded plenty
I walked a twisted road

Chapter by chapter
In between the covers
I ran through life
And ran through lovers
Far too many affairs
Then I discovered
There's no postponing
Being alone ... and
Finding ... no one cares

To the ladies I made cry
Please pardon me if I
Never cared enough
What was on my mind
Was leaving you behind
For me it wasn't tough

When doors start to close
I can only suppose
You get what you give
And if I could go back
I would like to retract
The way I chose to live

Regards,
  Steffen

Hi Stoman an honor to comment. first. really nice feel from
this song. sort of a 70 s flavor. love those keys. and great
team work over all. this deserves a bump and radio air play

Nice and bouncy.. that bass line really works with the keys to keep it a bit light. It's got some classic sounds but doesn't really sound dated at all...
Nice touch at the end with the whistle.

Fantastic assembly of great talent! I loved the Beatles/Jeff Lynne/BBoys vibe put on here. The backing vox were fantastic - The intro had a nice tight blast to it. I wanted more of that...

Sweet tune!

I expected something like that; catchy, well produced and performed music! The tune could be a classic from the 70's! Nice composition and arrangement, Steffen! Very professional job by the band!

aha! I'm getting smarter, I have doubled my Iexplorer window, so I can comment while listening, and say... WOOOOOOWWWWWWWOWOWOWOWO what is this, a bacharach killer song ? It is really delicious, what a pleasure. Perfect arrangement, and wonderful playing. I like it being a double face song - if you read the lyrics alone you could imagine a sad song, but - wow, there is still sweetness and somehow humor instead (this is changing the meaning in a beautiful way), flying high and light just like the best B.B. songs.

Thanks everybody for listening and for the kudos. Feel free to criticize though if you think there is something that should be mentioned!

I for one don't like my stiff piano playing. But there may be an alternative version with a real piano soon. And another one with a different singer. And maybe yet another one with yet another singer and possibly with a different arrangement ... :)

These days I merely dabble at being old and wise.
But I swear, I used to absolutely excel at being young and stupid.
