A song much covered over the years. I'm particuarly fond of the Coaster's version. This is my own acoustic take on it... where I sing like a girl  :D

Two layers of acoustic recorded via the MBR mic, vocals, and a dab of audacity sound fx.

The bubbling sounds are playing havoc with my prostate - but other than that I love it.

I sometimes play this one as a 'warm up song' but not like THIS!   :D  Love the way you have customized it, utilizing your highly-developed songwriter skills.  I think it's hard to not play a song the same way you've heard it for years and years.  This is a very creative rendition.  Interesting the way song has held up through the years... the Coasters & Searchers sang, 'been that way since 1956', I say 1966 and you say 1986.  :D  Love the 'chemistry'. Great job and very entertaining!

These days I merely dabble at being old and wise.
But I swear, I used to absolutely excel at being young and stupid.

I did a 'full band' version to start with (crunching guitar, wah-wah, sixties-sounding keyboard tones...), but really wasn't happy with it. It was just sub-standard retro pub rock. This was me just stripping it back to the core of the song. Those Leiber and Stoller boys were pretty good songwriters, eh?! They showed how a few simple chords are all you need.

This is one I'd love to hear you do. I can just imagine the Hooper finesse giving this tune something special.

This is the best version of this song I've ever heard. Period.

Your voice and guitar are in top-notch form, and there's a genuine late Sixties/early Seventies acoustic vibe to it - I dig the bubbling sound effects, too!

Wow! This is on the money. A fresh take that works so well! Green all over!

PS:
I've always been partial to Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass version, but I think your's is my new favourite!

I like alot of oldies but never really liked this song TILL NOW! What an awesome version.

It sure does sound Greeny and as if you wrote it yourself which is the point.
