Edit: Photography by me. The pics has been taken "In my island" - video compiled by Geoff. Thanks for watching!

I wrote a Finnish song about my surroundings at my cabin /about summer etc... I suggested Geoff to write English lyrics that is based on the spirit of my Finnish song. Thanks to Geoff for the great and poetic lyrics! This is both spoken and vocals song...

Thanks for your listening!

My Island

This desolate island, has many rocks, which have been standing here forever,
Bulrushes, brought here by a spring flood, also remain untouched,
It's the month of August and I feel the smooth warm heat on my shoulders,
As I take the country path and hear the song of the dry fern under my feet.

This is my place, where I choose to be,

The quiet and the solitude bring total relief,
I can touch the silence with my finger tips and feel the freedom in my heart,
As a cloud gently floats by, with its independent perfect way of life.
Chorus:
Nature, is the saviour of all of our sanity,
Brings intervals of  peace, light and love.
Nature, is the saviour of all of our dreams,

On my island I feel so fulfilled.
This is my place, I hear flutes gently chime,
And an answer can be heard, in the floating within its sound,
I sit silently writing a pearl of wisdom in my mind

As I sense the smell of the moist soil rising from the ground
I'm staring into the distance, and can see my future there before me
In the space, in time, beckoning from the horizon through a misty grey haze, No one knows my island; no one knows my dreams,
I'm alone in my time,    I'm alone in my days,

Chorus:
Nature, is the saviour of all of our sanity,
Brings intervals of  peace, light and love.
Nature, is the saviour of all of our dreams,
On my island I feel so fulfilled.

Very beautiful work here - a lovely song with a subtle arrangement that really supports the lyrical content. Beautiful, delicate, wistful and just all round great to listen to. I am also jealous of the lovely cabins that all you Nordics have in the country!

One minor point in the mix - when listening on my studio monitors, the vox sounded a little middly. A bit more brightness in the EQ would give them a greater clarity in the mix, but that's only a minor thing.

Cheers,

Nigel

Funny, I also thought of Donovan's "Atlantis". :)

And the strange sound effect on the voice also reminds me of Barclay James Harvest, although I couldn't say which song precisely.

Great lyric, Geoff, and the music is very pleasant. Nice work!
