CRYING IN THE RAIN

Vocals: Domenico Mercurio
Lyrics: Noel Downs
Guitar: Bobby Clohessy
Bass: Michael McKinnon
Drums: Alberto Villa
Composed, arranged & mixed by Steffen Offermann

A lonely man just standing,
while the rain is pouring down,
All alone in a lonely street,
Stranded in a no place town.
No comfort in remembering,
When all he sees is loss,
Gloomy skies no future,
Where has the sunshine gone.

Cars drift by like memories,
Each one brings new pain.
Soaking him in passing,
He's crying in the rain.
No-one sees the tears,
He's not trying to hide,
And a broken friendship
never really mends.

Lights of a late night cafe,
Blink inviting him in,
Another unseen shelter,
From the bitter, icy wind,
A choking lump weighs heavy,
Where the lonely heart still beats,
It's as empty as the beer can,
Rattling down the street,

Cars drift by like memories,
Each one brings new pain.
Soaking him in passing,
He's crying in the rain.
No-one sees the tears,
He's not trying to hide,
Like a broken friendship
it never really mends.

He's blinded by self pity
So bleak it'll leave a stain
All he can see is darkness,
So he can't face the day,
No one will ever answer,
Any of his questions why ,
She had already left him,
Before he saw the signs.

Cars drift by like memories,
Each one brings new pain.
Soaking him in passing,
He's crying in the rain.
No-one sees the tears,
He's not trying to hide,
Like a broken friendship
it never really mends.

May not be everybody's cup of tea, but I hope some of you will enjoy it.

Regards,
  Steffen

Nice piece of music! Well done on each department - everything works well on this. This could be an easy listening pop hit from the 70's. I like it a lot!

Because the Hook brings you back
I ain't tellin' you no lie
The hook brings you back
On that you can rely

Thanks for the positive comments, guys! I'm glad you like the song. It's a bit different in style than what most of us usually listen to.

The strings and the piano are not real. The piano is Steinberg's "The Grand 3", and the strings I did with my stone-old version of EastWest QL Symphonic Orchestra Gold. Everything not listed in the credits was usually done by myself using MIDI/VSTi plugins.

Regards,
  Steffen

Hook

From the evil Mrs osckilo:  I don't usually comment on this site, but I do love this!

Its one of those that makes you go Awww, for the guy crying in the rain.  The lyrics tell the story like a video and paint a really sad picture of him (p'haps I'm just hormonal, hehe)!

Great stuff!

I'm pleased to know that the guys and I were able to make the evil Mrs. OsCKilO comment on a song! :D

Thanks for the nice comments! John Denver? Well that never crossed my mind, but I do like many of his songs. Certainly not a bad reference. :)

One of my favorite Denver songs is "Annie's Song".
