What are the steps for a good recording?

Interesting article.
Personally, when I bounce tracks to make more room for more instruments, harmonies etc I work my way up the virtual tracks, which leaves all previous takes in place should remixing be needed. I master using the mastering toolkit as I do not know a great deal about this process and my ears are not the best, just pick the preset that sounds best and tweak it. I then export to the laptop and if needed do a final master tweak using Audition and Ozone3. I have tried exporting the tracks direct using the WAV converter and doing the whole thing in Audition, but it seems a lot of extra work for little or no gain, the BR will do all that stuff for me, so I let it  ;D

Yes, that's the best way. Something I've also found helpful is to select v-track 8 for my bounce targets and work across and down. That way, when I use the BR Wave Converter, it's easy to see which v-tracks contain my base tracks (top row and down) and which v-tracks contain bounced tracks (bottom row and up).

The image above is from a song recorded on my BR-864, which is why there are eight tracks. A Micro BR, of course, would only have four tracks shown in the wave converter.

By the way, am I the only one who thinks the wave converter v-track grid is upside down? For some reason, I think v-track 1 should be at the bottom of the grid and v-track 8 at the top. I don't know why. Maybe it's just me.  :-[
