BR800 -recording with 2 mics- not on separate tracks?

I want to use 2 mics on one vox to fatten it up. (SM 57 + Apex 460 condenser)
I plugged into Input 3 & 4 and set 5/6 and 7/8 to rec (flashing) because I have a backer and bass on 1,2 & 4
The Input monitor shows the 3 & 4 levels are good.
When I record, 5/6 has nothing on it.
Is it sending a mix of Input 3&4 to tracks 7/8 even tho 5/6 does show the flashing as well?

What settings did you use for the Input Source and Mode as described on page 37 of the BR-800 manual?

Input source was Input 1-4 and mode is 4 track rec

Because if I  chose inputs 1 & 2 and mode = mono, I can't make two tracks set to rec.

I'm guessing it did record both mics to 7/8 as a stereo track. It just means I use pan to mix how much of each mic is heard.. I think.

If one's a condenser mic you'll need phantom power, which may bugger the other mic up if both inputs supply Phantom power. I think that's the rule?

I just re-read your original post and noticed that you've set four tracks in record mode (5, 6, 7 and 8). Since you're only recording the two microphones, you only need to arm two tracks (5 and 6 or 7 and 8, but not all four).

And yes, because tracks 7/8 are a stereo pair, you use the pan (balance really) control to adjust the relative playback levels and the Track 7/8 fader to adjust the overall level of both tracks.

Problem solved with track swapping.
I swapped the (stereo) 1 & 2 backing track to 5/6
And the 7/8 Vox to 1 & 2 which then allows volume and panning control separately.
Sounds great (IMHO:)
Thanks all
