This started out as a fun backing to jam leads with and quickly got out of hand.

I said I was going to take a break but ran into my sadly neglected BR-600 and after diving in, I was HOOKED!!!....oh well!

Enjoy!  As always - critics welcome!

BTW- If you want the backing track of this to play with, it's located here:

(real drum version posted further down thread)

Groove Too Deep (c) 2011 Ken J Hill
----------------------------------
In my quest to be a star
I may have gone a bit too far

Got a groove that is so deep
Won't even let me get to sleep
-
Found a beat that's really tight
Add the bass - get it right

Then the chords to fill it in
Now loop it all to never end
-
Grab a tone - throw down a riff
Careful not to make it stiff

Find yourself that magic lick
Just be sure to keep it thick
-
Not too slow and not too fast
You know this loop is gonna last

Rip that axe til your fingers bleed
Just can't stop this endless lead
-----
I'm trapped in a groove - I'm in too deep
There's no way out - the road's too steep

The path is clear but can I leap
I must prevail - rewards I'll keep

Thanks much everyone!!!!

I also see a few have grabbed the backer track.  Would be interested in hearing what else can be done with it.  I'm currently trying to add a live drum track but haven't played "real drums" in over a decade so have to relearn all my chops.  Driving the wife and dog crazy so can't practice much.... :(

I'll post that version here once I can pull it off. :D

FINALLY got a real drum track mixed - found I had a lot of trouble with the sound (see here):

https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?topic=1516.0;msg=162109

At least I can now say I finally have a complete song that I wrote and played myself w/o using a drum machine or other tricks of the trade (except some editing of course.....) :D

Not saying it's better by any means than the canned drum version and if I could practice everyday for a year I might get back where I left off but here it is for what it's worth.

Critics again welcome and thanks again for all the good words!  (any tips Rata-tat-tat?)

Great song brother, really liked your chorus. I listened to both versions and I like your drums, they sound warm and well... real, very nice! I like the leads in both but I prefer the tone of the lead  in the first version. Great tune though!
Rock on!

Because the Hook brings you back
I ain't tellin' you no lie
The hook brings you back
On that you can rely

Farrell Jackson

Nice upbeat song! The real drums version sounds best to me. You did 100 times better than I could have sitting behind any drums. I like that you used the wah on some of the soloing...makes a good change up. Nice work all around!
