While I've been doing the Prophet stuff I haven't really had a lot of opportunity to play the guitar.  I inevitably end up doing all of the keys when I colab with Nick and Mark - so I thought I'd try and knock up a bit of a blues and give a guitar a bash.

It started off being a sort of blues then, as usual, I got carried away with the arrangement (see if you can spot the cowbell!).  I'm not really much of a blues player and this is about as close as I get.

I used a Yamaha MSG Custom through a Vox Tonelabs amp modeler for the guitar parts.  Keyboards were a Yamaha Motif XS7 and Roland Fantom G (my new toy).  Mixed and mastered on a BR1600.

Let me know what you think - and be as critical as you like.

Nice blues work Paul! I like that you've put a little different spin on it instead of just going with the 12 bar progression. Sneaking in a bit of prog. is a good choice. Very fine guitar playing and yes finding the cowbell at 3:30 took me two listens to pin point it. A real good listen!

I'm not qualified to make any kind of critical comment, but I sure do know what I like.  :D

I love the layers on this, and the wonderful - what feels to me to be tension - that the guitar pulls along right through the track. Certainly an interesting and compelling take on a blues tune.  Good job.  :)
