I downloaded that other backing track from the guitar lead showdown post but for the life of me just haven't been able to find my groove to it, so.... I made this backing track instead, and thought maybe you'd all like to give er a shot.

As always I am using my ADA MP-2 Preamp for distortion and tone, running stereo out to my G-Major effects processor then adding Chorus, Delay and Reverb then stereo into the MBR line in. It's a single Guitar take and for the Bass track I used a clean tube form the ADA and then used an Octiver on the G-Major on a seperate stereo track, also done in a single take.

I actually spent more time trying to get the stupid drum patterns in sync.... and sorry it end's rather abruptly, I couldn't think of anything originally but added some lame whammy dive on my lead hahaha.

Here's my lead. It is a single Take, no dubs or punches so it's got it's rough spots hehe. I'm using my Digitech HM2 Harmony Man for the intelligent harmonies, and the only thing I changed from the rhythm guitair was removed the chorus and boosted the level slightly. I'm not completely happy with the mastering, going to have to figure out why it sounds amazing on headphones but way too reverbed on monitors  ???

Dmann,
Nice shredding! I really like this. I am going to have to check out the HM2 Harmony Man next time I am at a music store. I wonder what it would sound like with a ukulele  ;D

Really great playing.  Were your fingers sore after that ???  I like the fact that there is a lot of melody with this, and some nice slower stuff to bring out that melody, not just super fast notes all around.  Good job.  I don't think I could attempt a backing track like that ( I would end up all blues rock sort of sound  :D) but I would sure like to hear some other people give it go.  Let the "Metal" lead guitar show down begin.

Alternate Tunings: CAUTION: your fingers have to be in different places

Actually most of what I am playing is the G major scale (Natural E minor scale) and E pentatonic minor (blues/rock scale) but I kind of went crazy with hammer-ons / pull-offs and double time picking with excessive use of the whammy bar which makes it sound really fast but really it's quite basic. Once you jam wth the rhythm a few times you'll see what I mean, it's a very easy E-C-G-D, E-C-A-G, E-E-E-G repeating pattern. For me this is what I use for a warm up before a jam or gigging just because it allows me to cover almost all types of scales very quickly.

P.S. I would really love to hear everyone else's take including yours. That's what I love about music is that everyone has thier own style and it's almost always something completely different and original compaired to everyone else's.

P.S.S. I love a melody over speed scales any day!
