Br 600 and Line 6

I have a line 6 jam amp that I want to plug into my br 600.  I want to be able to record from the amp to the br 600.  There are 2 rca plugs on the back of the line 6 and I have plugged them into the back of the br in the line in plug. I have used an adapter to make the cable into 1 plug for the br.  So I put everything on record mode and nothing records to the br.  Any suggestions?  Thank you.

Hello Patt.

I'm afraid that I don't know the BR600, 64Guitars's the guy for that. From what I see though, the Jam Amp RCA outs are for backing tracks that you play out of the amp's magic and don't include the guitar out.

You probably need to use the headphone output of the Jam Amp into Line In on the BR600.

Turn the output of the Jam Amp right down to zero, listen to the output of the BR600 on your headphones and slowly raise the Amp's output until you get an acceptable level into the BR600.

Good luck.

Did you remember to switch the input to Line? Press the LINE button at the top of the BR-600 next to the cursor buttons. It will light up when selected. If the GUITAR or MIC buttons are lit, the Line input won't be selected.

The Line input is stereo and some of the effects in the Line 6 are probably stereo, so you should record to a pair of tracks for best results. Tracks 5/6 or 7/8 are ideal for this, or you can use 1/2 or 3/4.

Good point. I tried to find a manual at the Line 6 website so I could verify the purpose of the RCA jacks, but there are several versions of the Spider Jam amp and I wasn't sure which one Patt has. The one manual that I looked at described it as Direct Recording Out or something like that. But if the RCA jacks on Patt's particular Jam amp are only for backing tracks, then I think you've found the answer she needs.

Thank you for your replies.  The mistake I made was in forgetting to switch to line.  The set up is,  line out on back of amp to line in on back of br 600.  When I switched to line all went very well.

Yeah, as you discovered the RCA out of the SpiderJam transmit all the sounds, not just the backing tracks.

BTW, if anyone needs a copy of the SpiderJam manuals (there are 4 different ones), let me know. I have them all in PDF files.
