Censorship is bad.  You can't just have everyone liking your stuff.

Having run a few boards on various topics, pains in the arse tend to disappear due to the weight of the will of the people.  I also seem to recall that you weren't exactly pleasant to me once in the past.  Swings and roundabouts I guess.

I'm going to laugh for the rest of the day now.

Deleting somebodies posts is a bit unethical, maybe another solution would be better?

In principle, this almost makes sense.  For example, when you have a blog, you have the right to approve/delete what others submit.

So you're proposing that each member control their threads as though it's their own blog.

Although I see the outcome would be that people would be too quick to delete posts rather than articulate their own world view, and others would be hesitant to express themselves knowing that their comments could simply be deleted if deemed controversial by the people who are incapable or unwilling to articulate their opposing thoughts.  In short, it would lead to less communication and a homogenization of content.  Is that in the spirit of this community?  It's not for me to say.

Honestly, I think there would be so few posts deleted if members were actually able to delete them, and that's based solely on my own experience.

As a long standing and absurdly active member here, I have the luxury of speaking my mind, right or wrong (often wrong). I know in advance that I'm going to piss a few people off at times. I accept that.

As a forum administrator on another forum, my posting habits and personality change, I am quite a bit more open minded, and look for conflict resolution via other means. I have deleted maybe 5 posts total, though I was tempted to delete way more often. The whole power/responsibility/community factor kicks in. Ultimately, I realized "who the hell am I to be the moral conscience?" I'm the last guy for that job.

I'm not keen on this idea either, I think admin have things well covered if topics get out of hand. Forums are for discussions and some times disagreement, that's just how it should be!
