This song is now part 2 in a trilogy as was suggested.  This is the main section with vocals.

I ended up adding small instrumental segments together for the introduction part 1 with a rock variation for the 3rd part conclusion.   ::)

Anyway hope you enjoy this and if not please tell me why so I won't get a big head!  :D

(NOTE: this upload is now same as the one that was below with modified vocal mix)

Moment of Silence (c) Ken J Hill 2011
----------------------------------------------------------
Just a moment of silence is all that I need

My thoughts to collect and my soul needs to feed

Might even find answers to everyones' errs

Or ponder the reason why anyone cares
-
I just need a moment, an absense of sound

Before noise returns in which I will drown

Getting louder it seems, day in and day out

Can't hear myself think, now starting to shout
-
It used to be cool to crank up the tunes

Now turning those hormones back into fumes

Blow off your steam with big loud machines

Someday you'll wish you knew what I mean
-
Silence is golden, that is what they say

I know that they're right, just can't find the way

Life used to be quiet - noise was no concern

Now chainsaws & hammers - my brain starts to burn

Oh well ........

Absolutely fabulous Ken. This is definitely my favourite part of the trilogy. The tune and the playing are first class but for me it's the lyrics which could stand alone as a fine piece of modern poetry. Well done............Willie

Really like this, especially all the guitar work at the end. A really delicate song that works really well, nice concept in the lyrics.

I did find the vox a bit on the muddy side for me - a bit too much mids, I would prefer more top end so they cut through a bit better. But no big deal, it's an excellent listen.

Cheers,

Nigel

Ken, an excellent piece of work. Nice fit of guitar & lyric, which not only have the listener tapping their foot, but nodding in agreement with the sentiments expressed. a thoughtful song indeed.

Thanks for this Nigel!  After listening to it a few more times, you are right on.  I originally used a fattening vocal patch since I have such a weak voice (forget the 3 letter name - next to the "on-board" one I think in the MBR).

I've since tried to use the vocal EQ, enhance+low-cut, etc. but am now getting the S problem back.  Think I can tame it with a remaster using hard comp added maybe.  We'll see and I'll repost it for review.  Thanks again!
