Hey All,

It's been awhile, but I managed to squeeze in another blues cover from my favorite band. This is an ambitious one, I know......but it sure has been fun to play (with all the echo's and pinch harmonics). A lot of tone tweaking in here and very tough to mix. I finally got tired of it and caved in on this version......LOL! Hope you enjoy!

Brilliant cover Mark! Love the lead on this - you've really nailed Billy Gibbons' tone. Excellent vocal too!

This sounds like an epic construction job! I can hear guitar phrases beginning before the ring of the string from the phrase before has died. You must have worked hard to get this to the state that you have. It's really very impressive.

The playing is excellent, just right and the vocal like Pete says is excellent too. Love the harmonics.

I'm not really familiar with ZZ Top, we had Smart Dressed Man as a big hit and there were a few others, but it was way off my normal listening and never went to investigate. My loss I guess listening to this.

Superb. Nicely done.

Man – you nailed the guitar tone, and the vocals to a "T".
Awesome solos too. You're getting more "skin" than Hugh Hefner!  ;D

I love ZZ, but I'm not familiar with this tune.

Regardless, this sounds fantastic.
Great job!!
It ain't pretty being easy.

Okay to Cover

This is my fav song off Eliminator and one of all time from ZZ and you nailed it!!

Those guitar tones sound spot on and your vox sound amazing for this song.

You actually sound like Vanncad here..lol

WOW, you really know how to get that tone, and your vocal is superb.

I'd forgotten how much I liked ZZTop!

No way in hell!........ I'm just a newby here :)....... I went and listened to Vanncad..... and shit, I'm not in the same league! I have this dumb BR-600.

I simply get a personal charge just breaking down the music that I find personally genius to me, that's all.  Breaking down good musicians seems to make me a better musician by understanding riffs and chops. Believe me, I find a lot of music pure genius, and after listening to Vanncad's juke box, he can break it all down.....then play it.  I dig your juke box man!!!!! Especially the CSNY stuff.

Thanks for the support! I wish I had more patience with the mix. I think that's where a lot of the emotion in recorded music comes from. Wish I could get a good grasp of it on my simple system. It's like playing my guitar sometimes.........my brain knows what to do........but my fingers refuse to oblige.

Mark, I love it. Your voice is excellent.  The whole production has a laid back feel.  Great playing too.  ZZ Top and Billy Gibbons have always been a big influence on me.

My first post to this forum was another cover of a track from Eliminator, too, coincidentally. TV Dinners.

Wow Mark... have to echo what everyone else has already said. I was/am a ZZ fan... even got an autographed bar napkin from my sister who used to run into him all of the time in Memphis Tenn. She worked at one of his fav hang outs. I find there are a lot of similarities between his playing and BB King's... the way they bend and voice notes. Also... yes your vox are absolutely killer... I can also here the Vann similarities. Thanks for sharing... hope to hear more from ya.
