We just need to get that Carbon Tax

In Australia there is a big political debate about carbon.  It is silly.  We know what to do but our politicians are scaring us away from doing the right thing for our future.

I wrote these lyrics on the way to work today.  I'd be happy for anyone else to have a go at putting music to them.  I will be trying to do this over the weekend.

We just need to get that Carbon Tax

Verse 1
I grew up in a world of riches
I grew up in a world of excess
Everyone had lots of what they needed
No-one understood the future mess

But now I know, and when I look back
We just didn't care, we were too relaxed

We can't keep going up the same track
We just need to get that Carbon Tax

Come on everyone, let's face the facts
We just need to get that CO2 Tax

For the last fifty years we've created our wealth
We just seemed to expect economic health
We sold our souls as we sold off our coal
And we bought more stuff to pleasure ourselves

Now we have a chance to change the outcome
And give a better future to our daughters and sons
We need to wake up from the fifty year dreamtime
And start doing now what needs to be done
