Managed to squeeze in a few more recording hours over the last days ...

Looking for a monkey-song to do for the fest, this was the closest I got ;D This is completely different from the last Harry Nilsson song I covered.

ingredients:electric (with ac-sim), classical guitar, Orkney-tuned white guitar, ukulele, shitty old bass, salt-shaker (couldn't find the eggshaker ::) ), guitar-as-bongo-drum, 4 voices and COWBELL !!

Yeah hooooooo, Orkney is where its at.  Great clear recording here, for so much going on.  This is just so frigging cool.  Man, got it going on Geir.

Alternate Tunings: CAUTION: your fingers have to be in different places

This came out great, Geir! That Orkney tuning works perfectly for this song (and I know how many chords there are ;) ). Sounds like you had lotsa fun on it, and the original video for this song definitely has the monkey connection!

This is shaping up to be one great fest!

I f*cking love the original, and the added Geir element just makes the whole thing sweeter. Absolutely superb arrangement, production and performance. It really couldn't be any better! It has so much depth, and I love the rising intensity (or should that be madness?!) as it rolls along on it's hypnotic journey.

You'll have to tell me though - what the hell is Orkney tuning?! Two strings plucked with a puffin's beak? lol

Greeny

And I'm jealous that you have a cowbell. Gotta get me one of those!

Thanks guys !! It's a really fun song to do, but like all Nilsson songs I've attempted, bløødy hard !! They sound quite simple some of them, but they are not !!! Not many chords you have to learn to play this one tho ;D

I think we all know why you couldn't get the player to work ::)

it was Dave that introduced me to the orkney tuning right here!, it's CGDGCD.

I only used it as a droning element to balance off the uke in the right channel. Played quite simple 004004, 007007, 002002 and an occational 003003 chord. (all variations of C(7) and Csus4 really.

And yeah you should get a cowbell ... everyone should !!
