Bloody fantastic! I actually prefer the raw edge you put on this to the original. A tricky one to tackle, but you pulled it off with great skill and talent. Mighty fine work!

Great cover of a great song. Could almost be a live version recorded by EC his self. Bang On!! Shoot!!

She pulls your eyes out with a face like a magnet.  One of my favorite lyrics in any song.

I bought this on 7" when it was in the actual charts.  It was on blue vinyl if I remember right (or was that Can't Stand Losing You by the Police).  Doesn't matter, this is my fave Elvis songs (this and I Don't Wanna Go to Chelsea).

I'm excited by your cover, Pete.  Lovely bass sound and playing and great vocal.  This will definitely find its way onto my iPod as well.  Already on my second listen.

Okay, now that I've heard this with headphones...

I think what I like most about your version is the vocal delivery. It's so different from EC's sinister delivery. Yours come through as, I dunno, anxious maybe. But it gives the song a whole new feeling.

Thanks Ted ! Anxious? That's probably cause I always am when it comes down to laying down the vocals. As I've said in previous posts, I've played in bands and performed in front of hundreds of people but never had the confidence to do a lead vocal - plus when I sneak off upstairs to do my vocals with the headphones on my wife usually comments on how awful I sound!
When I'd finished the backing for this song I was feeling quite proud as its only my second song using a real bass and first attempt with keys - can just about manage a few 3 finger chords on the white keys! I'd also added the drum fills myself using the BR600 pad keys during the bounce as the BR600 doesn't have any reggae drum patterns. To me my vocals are the weak link so I was feeling nervous about ruining all my effort.  Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed it and a big thanks to you and all the others who've commented on it - its been a massive confidence booster.  Tempted to have a go at Pump it Up next!!

See, to me that marks you out as having rare bravery.  When I do my vocals, not only does the house have to be totally empty, but all the windows closed and the street quiet outside as well!

Looking forward to that Pump it Up.

I do the same Nick - windows closed, check that the neighbours are out. can't usually get rid of the wife but if I do the dog's hovering around. Don't want barking on my tracks!
