War is Over

(A Dream)

Dear Princesses and Passenger Pigeons:

I've learned to make the sun rise on command.

The world is a stage.
So I will dress you up;

decide when the war will end

and how the world will be.

I'll take you out on fancy dates in speakeasies
You'll showcase gaudy hats
or wear a red flower in your hair.

I'm at the epicentre of the aftermath
of a whirlwind destruction path.

My entourage is a projection of my state of mind.
I'll drink to the death of those who hurt you

and wish more than anything
that it had not been me.

Thanks for listening!

I love these lyrics. You have a way with words my friend. "Dear Princesses and Passenger Pigeons"... damn, I love that. Inspired!

There's a bit of The Doors here - a Jim Morrison poem set to music (like their 'horse lattitudes'). But you're a better poet than he is! Seriously.

This was a great listen. The instrumental ending has lots of good stuff going on. Mighty fine.

I appreciate the compliment but that is too strong a statement.

I was trying to evoke collateral or casualties of war, thinking of the likes of the Romanov princesses, and passenger pigeons -- being an extinct species -- seemed like a good fit.

I actually feel like I am stealing these lyrics, since I wrote them back at a time when I was an unrecognizable version of myself.  That goes for this post and my two previous.

It would be nice if I could always write like this but somehow I think this was due to the time and place.

I dig the slashing guitars at the end. Good poem too. You're delivery reminds me of Allen Ginsberg.

Brilliantly written FF.
I get the Doors vibe as well.
The music was just perfect.
