My favorite bass solo, at the moment, is Randy Hope-Taylor's well-crafted outing on Incognito's cut, "Magnetic Ocean", off of their Tribes Vibes + Scribes CD. It's not new, but timeless in its musicality.

Bass solo's are cool,such a difficult instrument to play when it all gets fiddly.
Cliff Burtons the man for me,the guy could do things with a bass like no other.I'll up it later if i can do it justice.
