Krasi

I'm not sure if this is your problem but check if your wav file is set at 16bit as it's the only format allowed in br80.

There are a couple of ways to get a WAV file into MTR mode on the BR-80.

  • You can use the BR Wave Converter software.
  • You can first load it into eBand mode or LiveRec mode, then import it from eBand/LiveRec mode into MTR mode.

For help on using the BR Wave Converter, see this document:

http://cms.rolandus.com/assets/media/pdf/BR80WS04.pdf

You said that the WAV file works in eBand mode, so I'll assume that you know how to get it there.

Now you need to import it from eBand mode into MTR mode. Here's a summary of the procedure as described on page 78 of the BR-80 manual.

  • First, go into eBand mode and select the song.
  • Now switch to MTR mode.
  • Press the MENU button and select TRACK EDIT.
  • From the Track Edit screen, select WAV IMPORT.
  • Set the SOURCE to EBAND CURRENT SONG.
  • Set the destination to the desired track and v-track, then press ENTER.
  • Set the TIME to 00:00:00.00 and press ENTER.
  • At the ARE YOU SURE? prompt, press ENTER.

That's it. Your WAV file should now be available on the track(s) and v-track you specified. You may have to go to the V-TRACK screen to select that track if it isn't already selected. See page 66.

Well after a few hours of pulling out my hair, LOL, I found out that the SD card that I bought which was a sandisk 8 gig card was faulty.  The MBR-80 didn't show me any errors when I formated it. I was even able to import a wav file to it and it would play in Eband mode.
I backed up all the files from the SD card to my computer that the MBR-80 came with.
I even copied all the files from it to my bought SD card.  After all the fiddling around and me getting pissed off. I put back in the SD card that it came with and imported my wave file to it a Walla!,,  It was now in the MTR mode.

Thanks for your help.  Now I am a HAPPY CAMPER!!!!

Hi Folks.  New BR-80 user here.  I got mine Friday and have been playing with it all week.  While I like the unit, there are a few potential showstoppers for me - and I only have a couple of weeks to return it.   I've read all 36 pages of this thread already and a few things still aren't clear.

1. Is the ability to import SMFs in other than 4/4 fixed?   I know the release notes for 1.03 say it's fixed, has anyone been able to confirm that it is?

2. I hate the jog wheel.   While it's great in theory, if my fingers are dry, it's just impossible to turn reliably.  Pushing harder just increases the friction and makes it even harder to turn.  I checked with two other owners on another forum and they both said it's pretty normal and should loosen up over time.  Does the wheel really spin effortlessly for all of you?  I find myself wishing those little nubs were soft rubber to catch my finger better (and hurt less).

3. I'm using a 32G Kingston card that was 'supposed' to be compatible.   Based on the comments here, I guess I should expect issues.  It does take FOREVER to boot.   Beyond that, I'm having trouble with the song list editor, and I'm wondering if it might be due to the card.   If I select too many files to transfer at once, it instantly returns an unsupported file format error.   I haven't been able to nail it to a consistent file size or number of files, but every time, selecting fewer files allows the transfer.   While I can live with it, it does make transfers incredibly manual and tedious.  Is this normal behavior?

Thanks for any help...
Mike

I asked the same question on the following page and Geir reported that it is indeed fixed.

Does your BR-80 have the version 1.04 system software? If not, you should update it. There were problems with earlier versions.

And are you using version 1.01 of the eBand Song List Editor?

Thanks on #1!

I updated my firmware to 1.04 as soon as I got it, and I am using v1.01 of the SLE.  For what it's worth, I did a little recording (both MTR and LIVE REC) with my Kingston 32G card, and so far no issues.  Just for kicks, I ordered a Sandisk C10 8G card and that one appears to work fine as well.   However, both give me the same 'unsupported file format' error with the SLE.   I've ordered another BR-80 to see if maybe it's the unit.

Thanks,
Mike

Hello everyon.

I´ve read all this thread and next monday i will have my BR-80.

My first MTR was a tascam DP-008 but i wanna the effects so it could be more usefull in that part, i only have guitar and a drum machine.

For what i search on youtube, there are not many videos of users showing or making any tutorials, usually its the pros doing that, and the one with the weel problem that i only found here on the link.

My question is, when i have what is the first thing to do about updates and things like that?

Thank you in advanced

Geir
