Me giving Elvis Costello another case of mono--one mic, no tweaks.

And another song I occasionally pull out for open mic events.

Really cool cover Ted. I've ever heard the original. Love the strip down mono recording. This does it for me.

Oh well ........

Bluesberry

how can you get such an excellent sound, one mic, one take, mono track, What are you using for a mic, straight into the microBR?  It just sounds of flipping good.

Alternate Tunings: CAUTION: your fingers have to be in different places

I use the MBR mic. I have the MBR about sternum level on one of my mic-stand-adapter thingies.

I record in MP3 mode, but to a WAV file. Then I open up the file in Audacity to trim and/or fade the beginning and end. Since I'm already in Audacity, what the hell, I run the Normalize filter (default setting), then the Compression filter (default setting), then the EQ filter using the "Acoustic" preset. Then I export to MP3.

This method was not the result of trial-and-error. I was shooting from the hip when I first did it, and decided it was good enough.

Thanks fellas.

Yes, bloody good enough.  Its hard to image improving on this recording technique, dead simple and sounds marvelous.
