from his album globe of frogs, a while back sandy grit did a song from the same album and at the time i said i would do this, finally got round to it.
two things i found surprising,

thing 1: like the last two songs of my own, this one of mr hitchcock's  uses very little in the way of chords, its basically A minor and not much else, i remember him getting interviewed and going on about his quest to keep things very simple but still expressive, that sort of inspired my last two songs.

thing 2: for something so simple it was bloody complicated to do.

thing 3: robyn hitchock is a genius.

anyway hope ive not ruined a great song.

Cross-legged on the bed she gazed across the town
her shadow climbed the wall until the sun went down
she bought a china pug it lay there on the bed
and in the paper bag she could just see its head
She was vibrating She was vibrating She was vibrating

and in an adoring pose he shriveled up and died
until his bones were stems upon the grass they dried
and made an alphabet of white upon the green
and it was beautiful and some would say obscene
she was vibrating she was vibrating she was vibrating

and in the demon's hat discolored flowers grew
and they had fleshy stems and fleshy petals too
to slither is divine to multifoliate
she just lost her watch she couldn't concentrate
she was vibrating she was vibrating she was vibrating
she was vibrating she was vibrating she was vibrating

cheers dave.

deeper vox was done using  mic patch p12 vocal eq and virtually no reverb, the  higher vox was done to stereo tracks using guitar patch p22st clean and the ramping the reverb up to 100.

the deep vox was done early on in the recording mainly as a cue for everything else, then the higher backing vox was added right at the end after about 6 guitar tracks and a final piano stereo track. but it was all very simple stuff, plus threw tons of reverb at the guitars to hide my inadequacies lol.

that said ive been at it for two days, dumping earlier versions, and starting from scratch this morning again to get to here and i still hear all the mistakes lol.

but if there are any after all that, they are glorious mistakes.  Your hard work paid off in a really wonderful recording.  Pretty elaborate on getting the vocal. it sounds bloody good.

Flippin' 'ell Jim, this is fantastic!

Love your vocals on this (the combo of low and high vox sounds great), and always enjoy hearing you play guitar. The Juno adds a nice touch of ice to it all.
