This is a song about things not turning up despite being expected, and about change.

James came up with the lyrics and sang it, each take moving progressively northwards. I even have a copy of him singing Vienna over the top.

True: Over The Top.

4 layers of synth, a bit of slap, some power chords, two drum kits, and James singing once, twice.

This may be work in progress, or it may be the finished article. My ears are fried and I cannot make sense of this any more.

The MBR was used in the recording of this, but not exclusively. It was mixed in Reaper.

Waiting for a change
That fails to come
Stuck upon a train
That runs and runs
Evolution doesn't happen
All at once

It's just an idea
It's just a notion
Who knows how it's gonna go

Structures for the future
And happenstance
Butterflies and chaos
No one understands

It's just an idea
It's just a notion
Who knows how it's gonna go
It's just an idea
It's just a notion

It's just an idea
It's just a notion

It's just an idea
It's just a notion

It's just an idea
It's just a notion

I quite like this ;D, I feel the vocals could do with a tweek of volume tho.

I really would like to know more about synths and electronic music, what gear are you using on this??

Cheers!

I am using a Roland SH-201, a Korg R3 and a Roland TD9 for the drums. The industrial drums at the begining were programmed in Hydrogen and exported as a midi file, which was imported into Reaper and tweaked to get the sound I wanted. The second set of drums was recorded from the midi out of the TD9 kit into reaper in real time, then I tidied up my timing using the midi editor in Reaper. the drums were recorded from the midi to audio.

All the keys were played live into midi, tweaked and then the audio was recorded. It's a bit protracted but it keeps me out of the pub.
I'd be happy to show you sometime.

.....and whats wrong with the pub? :D

Sounds so complex, I've lots to learn.....in time! I've been thinking ahead a bit but in time would like to buy one of these mini synths, those minikorgs look cool, good price too. Does anyone have one or know much about them?

Thanks for the info too FH.

Bluesberry

a great full sound here.  I tried to find space for lead guitar but there was no room, it all sounded crap.  It is perfect the way it is........well maybe bring Jim's vocals up a bit more  :D.

Alternate Tunings: CAUTION: your fingers have to be in different places
