CaptainNeutron signing in (again!)

Hi there lads and lasses,

I'm another recruit from the over fifty brigade! I consider myself primarily a singer (lead and harmony vocals - not at the same time though  ;) ) but I also play guitar and bass. At the moment I play live in 4 manifestations (solo, duo and two bands).

I started "multi-track" recording at the same time as I discovered I could write songs, when I was still a teenager back in the age of dinosaurs. I used two reel-to-reel machines, recording a track on one machine and then playing it back and playing along live while recording on the second machine. The results are still kind of cute to listen to but the sound quality...well, it's abysmal!

In the 80s I bought and subsequently fell in love with a Fostex 4-track cassette machine. Coupling it to a small BOSS drum machine, I made hundreds of recordings all of which I still have on UNcatalogued cassettes ( I was convinced I would know what songs were on what cassettes  :o ). Sorting that lot out is a job for my next life.

As 64 Guitars knows, I bought my BR 900 a few years ago and posted a couple of things I did straight away...but I got frustrated with the drum pattern "feature" (thanks again 64 Guitars for the mails on how to use it - I have a bad conscience about not persevering despite your help).

However, now, thanks to the Drum Editor software, I am back! I got myself a Rode condenser mike, I have been experimenting with Audacity on Ubuntu and now I have - almost - resurrected the BR 900, so I hope to be plaguing you all with some examples soon.

By the way, when I do get going, I would be interested in trying out some collaboration projects, should anyone need some harmony vocals etc...

That's it for now - I'll be popping up with daft questions all over the place soon enough though.
