I got this recording here, it sounded better during the recording process...but somehow by the the time I got it to mp3 format it got all distorted. Are the levels to high? Is it out of tune for something? Never saw any "over" readings during the process. Any ideas where it got mucked up?

Pedro

Its not out of tune, and in my speakers there's little distortion, really. It sounds good to me! And its a great piece of happiness.  ;D

In what specific parts do you notice distortion?

Mr. Scar

it must be my monitoring system. cause it sounds good on my headphones also

Yes, maybe. Nice recording, the whistle sound is awesome.

The mastering process is new to me. My minidisck 4trk didn't have anything other than a line out. I find I wan't my mp3 files to sound as close to the pre mastered multi track sound as possible, but I'm starting to get into MTK.

Edit: oops ,this was supposed to fall in the thread about loudness wars.

Oldrottenhead

please excuse my ignorance but what is MTK.

When you are in Mastering Mode and press EFFECTS a new Bank shows up, its name is MTK. It contains the effects for mastering, like live mix, dance mix, hard compression, soft compression, etc...
