Quotethe punks said: "hey those prog-rockers are lame, they have those looooooong songs ... we can't have that, and they actually sing really good .. can't have that either, and man can they play .. let's just bang our fists against the strings the fastest we can ... "

I just watched a great "Ramones" documentary on the weekend, and this line was in there almost verbatim (don't know if that is what triggered you Geir, but if not - DAMN!! that is freaky).

Some pretty interesting facts about them going to England an influencing bands like the Clash and Sex Pistols too.

I would highly suggest a viewing:

NOTE: See the 3:50 mark of Part 2 for the prog reference.
It ain't pretty being easy.

My first touch to punk rock was White Riot by the Clash. I listened to radio when I heard that tune! My reaction was abashed, what is this all about... angry guitars, high tempo and loud vocals. I was immediately hooked on punk. A friend of mine ordered Clash album and I recorded it on tape. Maybe that album is the most played one of my record collection (later on, I purchased it on vinyl). Punk was something new and fresh and it sure encouraged youngsters to base own punk band all around the world where punk records were played. So did I and my friends...

Then came Finnish punk bands and here's a couple samples about them. The first one Eppu Normaali recorded two punk albums, then they turned million seller power pop band and I lost my interest in... Here's their first single from 1978:

The other one Sehr Schnell was a single band. It was pity that they split up after couple years. Here's their first single Orja (Slave) from 1978 as well:

Then Mongoloid (original by Devo) in Finnish... Maybe you haven't heard this before ;)
